Brunswick Community College Names Tanner Bullard Head Softball Coach

Bolivia, NC, July 8, 2026 – Brunswick Community College has named Tanner Bullard as the new head coach of the Dolphins softball program.

Bullard brings several years of collegiate coaching experience to BCC, most recently serving as an assistant coach at Converse University. During his three seasons with the Valkyries, the program achieved unprecedented success, setting more than 60 school records, including marks for regular-season victories and conference wins, while earning the program's first-ever victory over a nationally ranked opponent. Under his guidance, 28 student-athletes also received academic recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Conference Carolinas.

Prior to Converse, Bullard served as a graduate assistant coach at UNC Pembroke, where he helped develop student-athletes who earned conference player and pitcher of the week honors, all-conference recognition, all-defensive team selections, and all-tournament honors.

"We're excited to welcome Tanner to Brunswick Community College," said Robbie Allen, BCC Athletics Director. "He brings a strong coaching background, a passion for developing student-athletes, and a vision for building a competitive program rooted in discipline, teamwork, and academic success. We look forward to the future of Dolphins softball under his leadership."

Bullard said he was drawn to BCC because of its strong sense of community and the opportunity to help grow the softball program.

"I've always viewed BCC as a hidden gem with tremendous potential," Bullard said. "My goal is to build consistency in our student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom. I want to create a culture where our players compete at a high level, support one another, and graduate prepared for whatever comes next."

Brunswick Community College sponsors four intercollegiate athletic programs—baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, and softball—and competes at the NJCAA Division I and II levels. Learn more about BCC Athletics at brunswickcc.edu.
