Weekend ends in 1-1 split with Pitt CC

Game 1 (9-2 Loss)

The Dolphins recorded 8 hits, but couldn't get anything going offensively in the score column in game 1. Gage Doss had 2 hits in the game and 1 RBI during the 6th inning. Allen Brown hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 7th

 

The Dolphin pitching staff struck out 11 Pitt CC batters, but gave up 11 hits in the contest. The Fins fell behind 4-0 early in the game and the Bulldogs never looked back.

 

 

Game 2 (6-5 Win)

The Dolphins walked off Pitt CC in extra innings in game 2. The Fins took an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but Pitt CC battled back in the later innings to even the score 5-5 with the help of defensive miscues.

 

In the Bottom of the 8th inning Tatum Marsh lead of the inning with a walk. With Hunter Poole up to bat, Marsh proceeded to steal 2nd base, putting him into scoring position. Poole would later bunt over Marsh to 3rd base in his at-bat and would reach base safely.

With the Dolphins threatening to score, Pitt CC intentionally walked Allen Brown to set up a force play, bringing Branton Jernigan to the plate for the Fins. On a 1-0 count, Branton Jernigan hit a line drive into the gap to score Marsh to complete the Dolphins walk off.

 

 

 

The Diamond Dolphins will be back in action Wednesday when they go on the road for a doubleheader Vs. Southeastern CC. The first Game with begin at 2:00pm.
