More Time to Shine! Dolphins Win at Wake Tech 85-77 in Overtime
The nationally ranked #23 Brunswick CC Dolphins Men's Basketball team (19-3, 5-1) went into the capital city of Raleigh on Wednesday night and left with a crucial win in a Region 10 battle against Wake Tech CC. With Wake Tech honoring its sophomore class before tip-off and it being their final home game of the season, the energy inside the gym was electric. However the Dolphins embraced the moment. Brunswick came out aggressive and focused, attacking on both ends of the floor and building an early double digit lead. The home team answered with a run of its own, trimming the lead to 36-30 at halftime. The second half turned into a heavyweight battle. Possession after possession, both teams traded big shots and momentum swings. In the closing minutes of regulation, Wake Tech capitalized on a few turnovers to take the lead. That's when freshman Jamie Brooks when hit two clutch free throws with under 20 seconds left to tie the game. The Dolphins delivered a championship level stop in the final seconds to force overtime as Wake Tech was going for the win at the end of regulation. Once overtime began, it was all Dolphins. Brunswick showcased its toughness, depth, and composure, completely taking control of the extra period and pulling away for an impressive 85-77 road victory. Jamie Brooks (pictured) led the charge with 23 points, Linwood Rowe and Viktor Alao each added 12 points, while Blake Bartney contributed 10 key points in the win.
