Heart-Stopper at Home: Lady Dolphins Complete Fourth-Quarter Comeback to Top Cape Fear CC, 66–64

Win Streak Extended to Three Games!

The lights were bright. The gym was loud. The rivalry was heavy in the air. Cape Fear CC walked into Brunswick and punched first and hard. Shot after shot fell as the visitors raced out to a stunning 25–10 lead after one quarter, momentarily quieting a normally electric home crowd. Even then, the Lady Dolphins never panicked. They battled. They adjusted. And in the second quarter, the comeback quietly began. Brunswick found its rhythm, but at halftime the scoreboard still read 37–25 in favor of the visitors. Then the doors opened for the third quarter and a different team came back onto the floor. Brunswick turned up the pressure. Passing lanes disappeared. Shots got rushed. Every stop fed the crowd, and every cheer fed the defense. The Lady Dolphins chipped away possession by possession, closing the gap to 55–49 by the end of the third. The belief was building. You could feel it. The fourth quarter was a movie. The gym erupted with every defensive stop. Brunswick refused to give an inch, forcing turnovers and turning chaos into points. The deficit vanished. The energy exploded. Then, with under a minute remaining, destiny met opportunity, Destiney Mitchell rose and drilled a three-pointer that put Brunswick on top for the first time all night. The building erupted. Cape Fear had one last chance. Brunswick dug in. Hands up. Feet moving. One final defensive stand. The buzzer sounded! Pandemonium, as the Lady Dolphins ran over to celebrate with fellow athletes who cheered for them all night. The Lady Dolphins completed the comeback of the season, stunning their rivals 66–64 in a game that will long be remembered. Faith Farmer led the charge with 23 points, while Chelsea Rivera added 14, but this one belonged to everyone in the building, players, coaches, and a crowd that never stopped believing.
