Second Half Surge Lifts Lady Dolphins Past Richard Bland 70-67
The Brunswick Community College Lady Dolphins Basketball team delivered an electrifying second-half performance to earn a thrilling 70-67 victory over Richard Bland College at home today. The game was a battle from the opening tip with both teams trading runs and matching each other possession for possession. Richard Bland controlled stretches of the first half knocking down timely shots and keeping the pressure on. However the Lady Dolphins stayed composed and within striking distance with the score 28-23 heading into the break. After halftime Brunswick flipped the switch. The Lady Dolphins turned up the defensive intensity, forcing turnovers, contesting every shot and controlling the glass. On the offensive end they attacked the rim with confidence, moved the ball crisply, and knocked down big shots when it mattered most. The energy inside the gym shifted as Brunswick slowly erased the deficit and took control. At the end of the third quarter they led 52-47. In the fourth they continued to battle the comeback efforts of the visitors. However with the game hanging in the balance in the final minutes, the Lady Dolphins showed grit and poise. Clutch free throws, strong rebounding, and key defensive stops down the stretch sealed the dramatic three-point win. In a balanced attack the Lady Dolphins were led in scoring by Faith Farmer (pictured) with 26 points, Jazmine Burns with 14, Chelsea Rivera with 11 and Shamayra Monk with 10.
